Founder & Executive Director | New Politics
Emily built the national movement of United States military veterans and national service alumni running for elected office. Emily’s journey began when she herself served with AmeriCorps to help underserved Boston public school kids. In 2009, she was asked to run the Senate campaign of her boss and mentor, City Year co-founder Alan Khazei. She then quickly realized that the current way we source our future representatives is intentionally broken and has significant barriers to success. Empowered by her background, and with the knowledge that service develops important leadership and teamwork skills, as well as a country and constituent-first mentality, Emily started New Politics in 2013 to change this pipeline. Emily graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology and a Masters Degree in Education Policy.
