Building Power/Changing Systems | More Equitable Democracy
George Cheung is the Director of More Equitable Democracy, an intermediary focused on engaging communities of color and young people in electoral systems reform. Prior to this, he served Program Director for the Joyce Foundation’s Democracy Program and Co-Chair of the Funders’ Committee for Civic Participation. George was also executive director of the Win/Win Network, an affiliate of State Voices, and founder/executive director of Equal Rights Washington, a statewide LGBTQ advocacy organization. Before his career in advocacy, he worked for the state governments of Rhode Island and Washington as a civil rights investigator with a focus on housing discrimination. He holds a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Brown University. Like salmon, George is thrilled to return home to the Pacific Northwest.
