Senior Counsel | RepresentUs
Scott joined the anti-corruption movement because everyone, rich or poor, deserves a fair day in court.
At his first job out of law school, with the Ohio Public Defender, Scott represented some of the poorest and most vulnerable members of society. His clients couldn’t afford an attorney, and certainly couldn’t afford to donate to the election campaigns of the judges who’d hear their cases. Instead, justice was often for sale to the highest bidder, with lobbyists, attorneys, and special interests spending big to protect their bottom lines.
Scott now lives in Washington, D.C., where he leads RepresentUs’s legal advocacy work, and designs and defends anti-corruption initiatives across the country. He also heads the Legislative Committee of the ACLU of D.C., and is a past president of the American Constitution Society D.C. Lawyer Chapter. He is a veteran of democracy organizations such as Justice at Stake and Free Speech For People, and was funded by the U.S. State Department to fight corruption in Eastern Europe.
Scott is a proud native son of Cleveland, Ohio, and received his B.A. and J.D. from Ohio State University.
