Organizer | Justice for Jocques

Theeda Murphy is an activist, counselor, and dreamer. She was born in Chicago in the Sixties, the child of a social worker. Her earliest memories are of rallies, marches, and grassroots activism. She is a proud product of Oakwood University and Fisk University, both Historically Black Universities. Her twenty years of experience working as a crisis counselor in community mental health has given her a deep understanding of the mental health delivery system and she advocates for her clients as they negotiate the rigid bureaucracies of our current health care system. As a crisis counselor, she has worked with individuals and families who have been impacted by trauma and violence: domestic violence, homicide, rape, and sexual assault. She has learned how to assist people in finding their strength during the worst moments of their lives.
